緣起與變革 Origins and Transformations
多年來，珍古德協會 (香港) 透過「根與芽」學校聯網 (Roots & Shoots School Network) 與全港超過 130 間中、小學和幼稚園緊密合作，推行各式各樣的可持續發展教育活動。
2025 年，我們對計劃進行了全面的檢視與整合，正式將「根與芽」劃分為兩大行動方向：

讓改變不再有門檻
是次改革的核心，在於讓更多兒童及青少年能夠輕鬆參與「根與芽」。過往，部分老師與家長或因擔心孩子年幼、未能構思創新的環保方案而卻步。
藉著這次改革，我們希望打破這些框架。本計劃獲協會投入資源全額支持，不設收費，只為讓所有有心的孩子都能參與。我們深信，這份來自社會的資源是為了投資孩子的未來，因此，我們雖然不收取金錢，但期盼參與者能珍惜機會，投入時間與熱誠作為回報。
實際行動其實並不複雜 —— 哪怕只是一幅畫、一段呼籲，或是一條短片，都能匯聚成改變世界的力量。因此，我們誠摯邀請 6 - 15 歲的兒童及青少年，加入我們的行列。
Over the years, the Jane Goodall Institute Hong Kong has collaborated closely with over 130 secondary schools, primary schools, and kindergartens across Hong Kong through the "Roots & Shoots School Network" to implement a diverse range of sustainable development education activities.
In 2025, we conducted a comprehensive review and integration of the program, officially restructuring Roots & Shoots into two major action streams:

Roots & Shoots Community Action Group
Removing Barriers to Making a Difference
At the heart of this reform is the goal of making it easier for more children and youth to participate in Roots & Shoots. In the past, some teachers and parents may have hesitated, concerned that children were too young or unable to devise "innovative" environmental solutions.
Through this restructuring, we aim to break down these perceived barriers. This program is fully funded by the Institute's resources and offered free of charge, solely to ensure that every caring child has the opportunity to participate. We firmly believe that these societal resources are an investment in children's futures. Therefore, while we do not ask for monetary payment, we hope that participants will cherish this opportunity and commit their time and enthusiasm in return.
Taking practical action isn't complicated — even something as simple as a drawing, a call to action, or a short video can converge into a force that changes the world. Therefore, we sincerely invite children and youth aged 6 to 15 to join us.

就在你的校園：適合希望在學校發起行動的學生與老師。

如何運作：

學生：如果你希望在校內成立小組，請先與你的老師分享這個想法，並邀請老師擔任顧問。接著，聯繫協會，我們將與老師攜手協助你們成立小組。

老師：您可以結合現有的環保學會、課外活動帶領學生參與。

你的舞台：以學校為基地，但行動不設限！你們可以從改善校園環境做起，也可以帶領同學走出校門，將綠色影響力延伸至社區。

Right on Your Campus: For students and teachers who want to initiate action at school.

How It Works:

Students: If you wish to start a group on campus, first share this idea with your teacher and invite them to act as an advisor. Next, contact the Institute; we will work together with your teacher to help you establish the group.

Teachers: You can integrate this into existing environmental clubs or extracurricular activities to lead student participation.

Your Stage: Based at school, but action knows no limits! You can start by improving the campus environment, or lead your fellow students outside the school gates to extend your green impact into the community.

就在你的家門口：適合居住在同一社區的兒童及青少年（與家長）。

如何運作：不用依賴學校，由你主動邀請鄰居、玩伴或親戚朋友組成。

你的舞台：以社區為起點，視野可以更廣闊。你們可以關注居住環境的清潔與綠化，甚至可以將你們在社區實踐的環保點子，帶回學校或分享到更多地方。

Right on Your Doorstep: For children and youth (and parents) living in the same neighborhood.

How It Works: No need to rely on school. You take the initiative to invite neighbors, playmates, or friends and relatives to form a group.

Your Stage: Start in the neighborhood, but set your sights broader. You can focus on the cleanliness and greening of your living environment, or even take the eco-ideas you practice in the community back to school or share them more widely.
